Large networks with a high number of workstations and devices require load testing periodically to track potential congestion and issues that might occur. Designed for experienced network administrators and advanced users, the ISB application, short for “I'm So Bored” provides a network stress testing software utility that can assess the limitations of a network in case of overload.
ISB (I'm So Bored) features a one-window interface that bundles all its tools in an organized manner, in different panels and tab-based sections. The upper toolbar reveals the current CPU and memory usage, right alongside the number of process threads.
The first step you need to take is to set the target URL or IP address and the port number. Confirm your choice with the “Set Target” button..
The application provides one-click access to some of the most commonly used network commands, such as whois, netstat, traceroute, or ping. It is possible to change the number of iterations and run the command with the click of a button. The output is shown in the log area.
There are several network stress tests that you can run with ISB (I'm So Bored). The application features HTTP flooding and port scanning, UDP flooding and whois lookup, TCP flooding and DNS lookup, as well as ICMP flooding and tracerouting.
There are several parameters available for customization for each of the tests. For instance, you can set the time interval, number of threads or set a subsite for your test. The buffer size, the number of threads and the time frequency can also be customized in case of an UDP stress test.
ISB (I'm So Bored) acts as a network stress testing utility, allowing close network monitoring and evaluation. While the log within the main window displays all the actions taken by the application, the results of the test can also be exported to file and used as a reference.
