In this regard, Network Data Simulator comes as a lightweight tool with which to determine whether or not a particular host can be reached and if it accepts data.
One of the first things you need to know is that the application requires Java Runtime Environment to function, so you first need to install it if it’s not already there. Setup is over before you realize, and you can take it for a spin right afterwards. Needless to say that you Internet connection needs to be active.
All the application has to offer can be found in a classic intuitive frame. This simplicity prevents you from spending a lot of time getting acquainted with the set of features. Effort on your behalf is minimized to filling in a few fields, after which the application checks the connection and displays the results.
In general, the application is more or less a means of pinging a particular target. As such, input consists of a port number, IP or host address, as well as timeout in milliseconds.
