Find out which ports are open on your workstation so that you can close them and reduce the risks of it being used by hackers via this program. #Scan port #Detect open port #Port analysis #Port #Scan #Scanner
Generally speaking, port scanning is an action performed by a network administrator for either security reasons or for network mapping. While the latter ensures that users have access to various resources, such as printers or remote assistance, for instance, ports and especially open ports can constitute a serious security issue.
Port Scanner is a tiny tool designed to determine the open ports on a particular workstation. The program comes with a simple interface that includes one main function, which you can start and stop while necessary. The ports that are detected as open are displayed in the dedicated box located in the lower section of the interface. The tool allows you to view the ports that are being analyzed via the Show Log option.
If the app detects an open port, the network administrator can make further investigations and close it, unless of course, the port is absolutely necessary. It is worth mentioning that scanning for ports is quite a lengthy process, so perhaps it is best to perform this operation when the computer is not in use, like after hours or during the night, for example. Then again, the application consumes very little resources and it can be employed while performing other tasks on the computer at the same time.
