Port Scanner

Port Scanner is a software tool designed to locate open ports on a remote computer by just specifying its IP address. It doesn't include complicated options or configuration settings, making it accessible even for users less experienced with networking utilities.

The setup procedure doesn't take long. However, because it's ad-supported, it offers to download and install additional components that it doesn't actually need to work properly, as well as to make some modifications to your browser settings. If you're not interested in these offers, you can decline them to make a clean installation, provided that you don't rush through the wizard steps.

When it comes to the interface, Port Scanner opts for a small window whose layout has a simple design, showing all options put at your disposal. Your IP address is specified as the target by default, and it can be changed into another IP address.

Instructions are shown in the help section about how you can obtain the IP address of a website by relying on the Command Prompt tool. Before starting the scanning operation, you can specify the start and end scanner. Search results reveal only the numbers of open ports. There are no other notable options provided by this piece of software, such as copying or exporting the list of open ports to file.

We haven't experienced any stability issues in our tests, as the software application didn't hang, crash or indicate errors. It scanned ports swiftly while remaining light on system resources consumption, as it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly.

The only issue is that it displayed the MAC address instead of the IP address by default. Although it doesn't have richer options and customization properties, Port Scanner offers a simple solution for checking remote machines for open ports. It's geared toward all types of users.
