NetworkActiv Scanner

NetworkActiv Scanner is a comprehensive and accessible application designed to offer a simple yet efficient method, to scan, explore, and manage internal LAN and external WAN networks. It comes with three distinct modes, advanced, simple, and wizard.

It's wrapped in an outdated yet intuitive layout that based on the chosen selection displays more or fewer options. For those who are unfamiliar with its functions, it's advisable to start with the guide method, to learn the basics. Plus, it might take some time to understand what each feature does. During installation, you are asked if you want a full set up or the portable version, whose files can be copied to an external pen and launched directly from any computer.

It offers customized search for all network devices, computers, and servers, or just particular ones. The next step would be, to set a host name or use the local connection, select the search type (e.g. HTTP, FTP server, Windows file shares, all of them), and the desired speed, from slow to the maximum pace. The results may be saved in a TXT file.

Regarding the simple method, the app scans a distinct port range values at a particular speed, and for a specific IP address. The advanced mode, on the other hand, displays two panels, each with different options. The one on the left side of the window, lets you insert specific information, such as port area, Whois, DNS-dig, trace-route, IP, host info and threats running, as well as TCP, read time, UDP time-out.

The one on the right is used to look up for multiple hosts for a given port or PING. Once an operation is started, a response time is shown, along with the number of scanned ports. When the process is complete, you can view all the found results with their type (TCP connect, TCP SYN, UDP), IP, port and use, which may be opened directly or with the help of other external programs.
