OpenNetMeter

OpenNetMeter is a tool designed to help you monitor the network and data usage and is especially useful if you have a limited package.

The tool can be useful in numerous situations, especially if your contract is limited or you are a student, for instance. If you happen to spend a lot of time online, then we don’t need to tell you just how easy it is to lose track and get carried away from link to link. While this shouldn’t be a problem in general, it becomes a big issue when you have an Internet limit cap, as you can finish the package within a few days.

The program is portable so simply download, decompress and run the tool. The interface is modern and easy to understand and displays various relevant information, such as the current session data usage, total data usage, the download and upload speed as well as the network you are connected to.

In case you want to learn more about what is taking up your bandwidth, then you can do so from the Details tab. Here you can preview a list of the applications that are connected to the Internet along with the data sent and received.

In case you do not want to bother opening the tool every time you launch the computer, then you should consider adding it to Startup. This is a fairly simple process that entails opening the Task Scheduler, creating a new task with the highest privileges and adding the application in the Action tab.
