While Notepad and similar text editors with limited features are great when you need to make a list or write down something, there are times when you may need a little more. For instance, if you are editing a text that you are planning to publish online, then you may want to add some tags to the content before uploading.

AutoTagger is a lightweight piece of software that enables you to add some of the most common tags, such as underline, bold, italic, for example, to text content you are reviewing or editing via basic text editors.

The program does not come with an interface per se, but rather you can use the default keyboard shortcuts to access its functions. Simply press Ctrl+Shift+R in Notepad or other simple text editor and you should be able to preview a context menu with extra features.

The idea behind the tool is to add extra functions to the default text editor while maintaining its overall simplicity and without eating too much resources. To be more precise, the utility adds several editing features, namely bold, italic, underline, span, header, HREF, IMG, blockquote and paragraph.

The program does not include extra settings. However, you can change the default keyboard hotkeys with something more convenient or that does not overwrite other shortcuts you are using with other apps.

You should bear in mind that you need to select the text where you want the application to place the tags. In case no text is selected, then the app places the desired tag where the cursor is.
