Clipboard Image Utility

Clipboard Image Utility is a simplistic piece of software designed to help you quickly open Clipboard pictures in your default graphic editor, in order to make changes and save the results to file to use in various personal projects.

It has just a couple of options and no configuration settings, so it can be used with ease by anyone, since no previous experience with Clipboard tools or graphic editors is required.

Setting it up is a fast task that shouldn't impose any difficulties, thanks to the fact that the installer has familiar wizard steps. There are no special options and no prerequisite software programs involved.

Once launched, you're greeted by a normal window with a rudimentary appearance that makes Clipboard Image Utility look like an unfinished project. Although the interface leaves a lot to be desired, it's easy to navigate due to the handful of options displayed.

Once the Windows Clipboard is filled with an image, you can switch to this app to click a button and immediately open the photo in your external graphic editor associated with pictures. The program gets minimized to the taskbar, not the systray. There are no other notable settings available.

We fail to see the purpose of this application, since it doesn't put richer options and configuration settings at your disposal. It's actually easier to open your image editor and paste the Clipboard contents instead of going through the trouble of installing Clipboard Image Utility.

Unsurprisingly, it left a small footprint on system resources in our tests, running on low CPU and RAM. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't hang or crash. Although it hasn't been updated for a long time, it still works on newer Windows editions.
