Clipboard to QR-Code

Transferring some text from your PC to a mobile device is surprisingly difficult, as you normally need have them connected to the same network or store data in the cloud. However, there are simpler alternatives out there.

One of them is Clipboard to QR-Code, an open-source application that generates QR codes from clipboard text, which can be scanned with a mobile device to transfer the text quickly. It is not perfect, but it can get the job done.

Once the application is up and running, you can either use a hotkey or access its system tray menu to create a QR code. Of course, you should make sure the text has been sent to the clipboard beforehand.

The QR code will be displayed in a new window on your desktop, and the text will be shown on your mobile device after scanning it with its built-in camera.

After generating a QR code, you can send the text to your smartphone or tablet by just scanning it. Depending on the type of device you are using, you may need to install a mobile app for scanning QR codes with your camera.

If you’re an iOS user, you can just open the Camera App and capture the QR code. It will be detected, and the text will be transferred to your device. If you have an Android phone, however, you will need to download a third-party app.

Clipboard to QR-Code is still in the early stages of development, and it is clearly a little rough around the edges. The UI is far from impressive, and you have to type the key combination manually to change the default shortcut.

On the whole, this program can certainly prove useful, as it provides you with a quick way to send text from your PC to a mobile device. It still needs work, however, as it lacks a bit of polish at present.
