Clipnest

If you are using a regular clipboard or the one that comes with Windows, then you are aware that it’s missing numerous features. While you could get a third-party app that packs more features, sometimes you might prefer keeping things simple and lightweight.

Clipnest is a lightweight utility that can add extra features to the clipboard while keeping the original app clean, lightweight and simple.

The application is portable so simply download and launch to get started. Take note that the tool doesn’t come with a graphic interface, but instead acts as a companion tool for your clipboard and can be accessed from the System Tray.

From here you can do various string operations, including word count, encoding and hash. Although the operations are very basic, the developer is more than open to add extra if he is provided with suggestions. For the time being, the application works with text content only, but perhaps in the future maybe it will support graphic or HTML along with other helpful extra features and options.

Granted, it would have been nice if the aforementioned operations could somehow be included within the clipboard program so that you avoid the extra clicking. On the other hand, not everyone enjoys having a cluttered work space and some might prefer to get details, such as the string length, for instance, via other methods.

Clipnest is a program that addresses anyone who wants to use extra operations on the clipboard, but doesn’t want to make the app itself appear too crowded. If you are using the clipboard regularly and prefer not to switch back and forth between several apps to do some common string operations, then perhaps you can consider giving this tool a try.
