Some users may find the built-in clipboard to be rather limited, and the single fact that it may only keep track of only one item at a time can be a little awkward. A clipboard history function is built into Windows, but even so, it can be a little cumbersome to access.

Third-party tools can thus be a viable choice for clipboard management. A new such tool comes in the form of PasteCat, which was designed to offer a handy, accessible way to manage multiple clipboard items with ease, so as to streamline any workflows that involve copying and pasting operations.

The tool is pretty straightforward in how it lets you manage your clipboard, and as such, users shouldn't expect anything complicated. Once booted up, the program will display an interface whenever it detects the CTRL+V hotkey.

The interface that appears is rather minimal, but it's tough to classify it as truly unobtrusive, as it may obstruct a few elements here and there. Nevertheless, any text you copy to your clipboard will be logged in the aforementioned interface for easy access. Select the text you wish to paste with your left mouse button after bringing up the interface, and it'll automatically be pasted into the chosen field.

If you're copying a file while the tool is on, you should know that it automatically disables itself. This is to prevent it from appearing unnecessarily. You'll have to right-click the app's icon in the tray to re-enable it.

Other than that, it can be stated that the program works well enough for what it was designed. Some degree of configuration would be nice to have, such as being able to modify hotkeys and resizing the interface to make the program more suitable for your workflow. Nevertheless, PasteCat is still a tool that is very much worthy of consideration for a simple, unassuming clipboard management tool.
