Pastebin services, most notably pastebin.com, allow users to store and share text, usually code snippets, with others in a very straightforward manner. Things can always be improved, however, and Pasta is an app that can speed things up even more.

An open-source program that requires no installation, Pasta enables you to generate Pastebin links using text stored in the clipboard with a single hotkey. It is very simple to configure, relying on the pastebin.com API, and it does its job well.

To begin with, you need to log in to your pastebin.com account in order to get your API key. You will need it to upload content as a guest, and you can just copy it from this page and paste it in the API key field within the app.

In order to get rid of paste limitations, you can get a user key by entering your credentials and clicking Authenticate. The process should be pretty much instant, and you can then create as many pastes as you like per day.

Once you have completed the configurations, you only need to copy some text or code to the clipboard and use the Ctrl + Alt + C key combination. The application will generate a pastebin.com link and copy it to the clipboard.

You can also enter the desired paste format, set an expiration date and choose between the three paste modes: public, unlisted or private. After setting everything up, you can hide most of the UI elements to reduce the size of the main window.

Unfortunately, though, you do not have the option of sending the program to the system tray, so it is not as unobtrusive as we would have liked.

In the end, Pasta is a very helpful application that can save you a lot of time when storing content on pastebin.com and sharing it with others. The only issue is that it cannot be sent to the system tray, but perhaps this will be addressed in a future release.
