Always On Top

Always On Top is a tiny and portable tool that facilitates sticky notes which stay on top of other windows. It enables you to write down important information, such as a to-do list or upcoming events, such as meetings or birthday parties. A screenshot grabber is integrated.

Instead of installing the app, it's necessary to extract it to the hard disk or a removable storage unit to seamlessly launch Always On Top on any computer without previous setup.

The entire program's wrapped in a single .exe file. It doesn't need DLLs to run, create files on the disk, or change the Windows registry. However, your settings are not saved on exit.

The window is small and can be resized and moved anywhere on the screen. Since multiple instances are allowed, you can launch the tool several times to write different notes and take screenshots.

It's possible to modify the font size, adjust the frame's transparency, and click a button to switch to snapshot mode, which automatically replaces existing text contents.

The utility lets you draw a custom region to capture. By clicking the snapshot mode again, the current image is cleared and you can either return to text mode or record a new photo. The frames minimize to the taskbar.

Although it hasn't been updated for a long time, it worked smoothly on newer Windows in our tests, without hanging, crashing or prompting errors. Unsurprisingly, it had minimal impact on system performance, running on low CPU and RAM.

To sum it up, Always On Top offers a simple and straightforward solution for creating sticky notes. On the other hand, it doesn't have extra options, such as saving text or snapshots taken, or managing the notes.
