Alarm++

Alarm++ is a lightweight application capable of setting a large number or different types of reminders, in order to notify you of specific events. You can set recurring alarms, wake-up ringtones, monthly reminders or even prompt certain programs to open at a specific time.

The software enables you to set recurring alarms that are triggered at a specific interval, at the selected time, every day, or in every third Saturday of the month, for example. The combinations are numerous and the software allows you to set several repetition patterns for the alarm, as well as add an ending date. Thus an alarm can sound once, a few times, or at the specified interval until the end of the year.

Each alarm can be assigned to a certain profile. You can set an alarm for a forthcoming event, birthday or deadline, one that reminds you to check a newsletter, or visit a Web page, send emails, even pager messages.

You may set an alarm that can automatically prompt a program to open. For instance, if you must start writing a paper, the software notifies you and also determines your text editor to open a new page.

Alternatively, you may set the alarm to trigger a certain system process such as disk clean-up, a system virus scan, or even execute scripts and batch files. Aside from prompting the selected program to open or run in the background, Alarm++ also plays a beep or a ringtone.

You can set the reminders to go off hours, minutes or even days before a forthcoming event, so you can be sure you do not miss it. When an alarm goes off, a dialog box is displayed on your screen, with the reminder message and the dismissal options. You may cancel the alarm or snooze it.

The ringtone, that starts playing every time an alarm goes off, can be a standard beep of a certain frequency, a song of your choice or a voice that reads the reminder message out loud. The software features a text-to-speech function, so it can speak any phrase, as long as it is in English.

Alarm++ enables you to create multiple reminders, each personalized with a different type of ringtone, repetition pattern and adjacent functions. This way, you can be sure you do not forget important events, miss deadlines or run a disk clean-up at the appropriate time.
