Draftable Compare

Working with text documents is a common thing, but it can still get complicated. For instance, finding the differences between two documents can surely be a pain, but there are a variety of specialized applications like Draftable Compare which make identification of text differences a walk in the park.

Before you can enjoy all the application has to offer, you might want to check whether or not your computer is fitted with .NET Framework because it’s a mandatory requirement for functionality and even setup. On the other hand, it’s usually delivered as a default feature in modern Windows iterations.

The application first lets you select the files of interest before it brings up the main window. This can be done by dragging files in the appropriate spots, or relying on the browse dialog in each section. It’s specialized in scanning nearly anything under formats like DOCX, DOCM, DOC, RTF, PPTX, PPTM, PPT, XLSX, XLSM, XLS, CSV, and PDF.

The main window is then brought up at the press of a button. It displays a side-by-side view of the content of both files. Differences are highlighted in the preview area, but also in the scrollbars to make it easy to locate in large documents.

Note, however, that Microsoft Office needs to be installed on your computer to be able to compare Word, PowerPoint, and Excel files. In this regard, you can also choose to export as tracked changes, making things easier when processing the files in Office.

A document can be saved, but to the same format, printed out on a sheet of paper, have the original opened, as well as the file location. However, you can’t merge documents or synchronize content, so any changes need to be performed somewhere else.

Bottom line is that finding differences inside rich documents can be a pain. Draftable Compare makes things a lot easier by highlighting differences in a variety of text container files, and even if it doesn’t let you modify data, it’s worth your while overall.
