Note-taking apps have become essential in many people’s lives. When spur-of-the-moment thoughts occur, it’s best to jot down anything of note and keep it for posterity, because you never know when you might need it.

For some, note-taking and reminders apps go hand-in-hand, so having both of them under the same interface can be awfully convenient. That is the idea behind MyNotes, a solution that is a notes and reminders app in one: jot down whatever’s on your mind, and set your reminders so you don’t forget about certain time-sensitive things with this free and open-source solution.

The app has a design that feels right at home in Windows 11. Having been built with WinUI 3, the interface is one that is modern and easy to acclimate to, so operating the program will come naturally to users.

Most of the time will be spent in the Notes menu, where users will be able to keep track of their notes and create new ones. It’s a generally smooth experience throughout, and there are a few formatting options you may need from time to time: you can bold, italicize, and underscore characters, as well as add hyperlinks and strikethrough text.

Bullet and numbered lists can also come in handy in some situations. The program ran quite smoothly, and I experienced no problem jotting down whatever I needed.

Setting a reminder is just as easy of a process. Specify the name of your reminder, write a few details about it, and set a date and time. You can opt for repeated reminders and alarms as well when creating or editing an entry.

The program doesn’t let you create reminders set for later than the current time. I encountered a bug in this sense, as the program would deny me with the same message, even if the reminder was a few hours later.

MyNotes is a promising app that works as a note-taking and reminders solution. It’s simple enough to make it usable by everyone, but it may feel rather barren for some users. Cloud syncing would be appreciated, and so would be attaching images and files to our notes.
