Journal applications are often too complicated for their own good, and the unique formats entries are saved in can make migrating to other software very difficult. Thankfully, though, there are alternatives out there for users who like to keep things simple.

Journee is one of your options, an Electron-based application that enables you to write daily notes from a minimalistic UI, and then saves them to text files. It lacks advanced features, but it is very easy to use.

One of the problems users face with diary applications is that importing and exporting their notes can be quite difficult when trying to switch to a new program. Often, this is caused by developers using unique formats that are not supported by other software.

Journee saves each of your journal entries to a separate, dated text file. These documents are stored in the same folder, and you can easily transfer them or their contents to another application.

From the start, it is clear that first-time users will not run into any issues when getting started with Journee. The GUI features a very simple design, and you can switch between journal entries by just selecting a date in the calendar.

A simple search function is also available, but no other noteworthy features are included. The user interface cannot be customized in any way.

In the end, Journee was designed to provide users with a simple alternative to complex diary application, and it certainly fits the bill. It sports a minimalistic GUI, saves your notes as basic text files and is very easy to use.

However, it would be great if some additional features were added in future releases, as the program is, currently, just a slightly more advanced Notepad.
