One of the first things the application requires you to do before being able to take advantage of its features, is tell it where to look for music. However, take caution when imputing the MP3 search path, because you might end up with all audio files found on your computer in a database and not just songs.

Most of the workspace is taken up by the list in which imported elements are displayed along with thorough specific details. These can be sorted out by different criteria and even choose to create groups.

To prevent you from accidentally playing a song while managing the list mentioned above, double clicking on an item only adds it to a playlist. This can be populated with songs as you see fit and have configurations saved for later use.

Probably one of the most useful features of the application is the tag editor. You are able to modify all existing data relating to audio files from the database and besides artist or title, you are given access to several extended tags which include and are not limited to composer, conductor or copyright info.

MP3db is not the most friendly application of its kind. Besides the looks, overall design is poor, large songs not starting unless the audio spectrum is generated and playback buttons take a little getting used to. It leaves a little something to be desired, not living up to its true potential.
