Create a list of programs, files, and web links to access from an intuitive panel which shows CPU usage in real time, and can trigger audio alerts every hour #Application launcher #Monthly calendar #Shortcut keeper #Launcher #Calendar #Storage
Since the desktop can be used as a slideshow for your picture gallery, it’s a shame to mess it up with a variety of files and folders you don’t even use too often. Alternatives can come in the form of applications like miLife to help you keep the desktop a clean space by setting up a cool launcher for files, applications, and websites.
The application takes little time to install, with the possibility to have it launched right away. Unfortunately, the main window can’t be resized, and it can take quite some space. What’s more, it can’t be minimized to the tray area or taskbar, but it does automatically fade when left idle for a little while.
You only get to work with three preset categories for applications, files, and links. Adding items can’t be done through drag and drop, but the creation process is pretty intuitive. All your effort narrows down to writing a name for the new item, and providing the path to the executable or the link when you add a website.
Entries can be edited and removed if no longer used. The main window also shows CPU usage in real time, as well as time and date. The application comes with a default tool which makes it automatically run with Windows so all configurations are ready by the time you reach the desktop.
There are also a few additional tools. For instance, an hourly reminder can be enabled so every 60 minutes an audio alert is triggered. Sadly, there’s no option to schedule this component, or add custom reminders. Moreover, you can quickly shut down the PC through a dedicated function, but be sure to save your data first.
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that miLife is a practical launcher with a simple design, and quick edit functions to easily create a list of frequently used programs, files, or web links. Sadly, you might run into several issues every now and then, while the lack of minimize options becomes a little frustrating.
