Reminder

There’s a pretty high chance your daily schedule is busy enough to make you forget even about important events. On the other hand, performing your tasks on a computer makes things a bit easier in terms of time management. For instance, specialized applications like Reminder can be used to set up alerts for most of your needs.

The application doesn’t take much of your time with the setup process, but while there, you can choose to deploy it on a thumb drive in case you need or want to use it on other computers besides your own. Although you go through a setup process, registry entries remain intact while the application is active.

As far as the visual design goes, the simple interface makes it easy for individuals of all levels of experience to get the hang of things. There’s the large list which clearly displays all tasks you create, and there’s also a small panel which shows the current time and date to help easily set alarms.

The task creation screen is pretty intuitive. You’re put up against a set of options with which to set the title, message to display, time and date of the alarm, as well as the periodicity, which can be daily, weekly, or one-time. There’s the option to have an audio alert triggered besides the simple message.

You’re not limited to a single alarm, and you can fill up the list with more items, each showing parameters under corresponding column headers. It comes with several customization options dedicated to the visual style of the alert window, such as font style and color, and background color and transparency.

Bottom line is that Reminder doesn’t want to impress through visuals, but it does manage to get its job done quite well when it comes to management of tasks for both home and work related activities. The design is clean and intuitive, letting you easily set up a schedule, even with recurring alerts.
