Contact Book

Contact Book is a tool that enables you to create and manage a basic address book with contact information. It's geared toward casual users looking for a straightforward method for accomplishing this task, instead of installing complex and resource-demanding programs.

The program files consist of the launcher and a plain text document that gets updated every time you add, edit or remove contacts. These two files can be copied to the hard disk or to a USB flash drive with disabled read-only protection, in order to directly run Contact Book on any machine.

However, you must have .NET Framework installed. On the other hand, it leaves the Windows registry untouched and doesn't create other files on the HDD without your permission.

When it comes to the interface, the utility adopts a normal window with a clear-cut structure, where you can add a new contact to the address book by specifying the first and last name, cellphone and landline numbers, physical and email address, along with website. Any of these fields can be left empty, though.

Once you save the changes, the text document gets automatically updated. It's possible to view the list with all contacts and easily select an entry to view information, edit contact properties, or remove entries from the list. Advanced users can open the TXT file to directly add, edit or remove a person's details without running the application.

It worked smoothly in our tests, without hanging, crashing or prompting error messages. CPU and RAM usage was minimal. Although it has a light set of features, Contact Book gets the job done, enabling you to seamlessly administer an address book. However, it's not possible to add custom contact fields.
