Most information you need can easily be obtained through the Internet, and you might need to keep up a small text editor to save all strings you gather in your research. This can also be done a bit easier through notes, but if you don’t find the Windows Sticky Notes tool to your liking, you can try out alternatives like EasyNote.

First of all, you might want to know that the application is good to go from the moment download is done, because it’s not packed inside an installer. This also allows you to have it stored and used directly from a thumb drive if you want to have your notes at hand regardless of the computer you’re working on. Just make sure that .NET Framework is on the target PC.

The interface is pretty straightforward and wrapped around a classic window frame. This makes it easy to figure out, with a large section where you get to write all ideas of interest, as well as several tabs to manage different notes. You can resize and move the window, which always stays on top of everything else, with no option to toggle this.

In terms of file support, you’re only able to save your work, because input needs to come from the clipboard, or writing text on the spot, because there’s no load option. Everything you choose to save is exported as a TXT file in a location of choice. This can be done for either of the pages, or all at once.

There are up to five different pages you can fill with ideas of interest. Text doesn’t need to be limited to visible space, because the scroll bar becomes available when needed. The window can be minimized to the tray area when not directly in use.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that EasyNote is a pretty straightforward note taking tool. It’s not the most suitable replacement for the Windows counterpart, but it does come with a comfortable set of features, multiple pages in a single window, and possibility to save everything in a plain text file.
