Compare Text is a Windows application that comes with a straightforward, user-friendly interface where users can copy-paste text bodies or documents to compare them for originality.

The program will check the documents for similarities, and it will highlight in red every matching paragraph that it finds. It would be easy from that point to quickly view what parts of the text are not original. Also, Compare Text will display how much of the source document has been copied, showing that in percentages. However, there is more work to do from the developer to tweak this feature because it has some issues when there are differences in length between the two text bodies. The application also has a built-in check spelling feature, so you'll also see every misspell. When you have finished the plagiarism check, you can save both documents on your computer.

You will be able to select replacements for specific words in the copied material and search for regex patterns in both the source document and its copy, under the Comparison Options section. Other settings are available so that you can tweak cleaning options, too. Cleaning means the replacement of copied words or expressions according to the search terms that you have specified. You can also select preferred fonts and alignment for the resulting documents. In conclusion, Compare Text does what it promises to do, but more features should be added. At the moment, this app is not as good as the many other free web-based applications out there.
