Doc to Text

Converting data from one format to another is still a required process in the day-to-day trenches of digital life, despite the latest advancements in software interoperability and associated aspects. Having the right tool for migrating data easily can make a significant difference. Doc to Text, just as its name adequately suggests, will provide users with a dedicated tool for migrating their digital document format data to plain text format, for both individual files, as well as entire batches.

We enjoyed the application’s simple approach, which allows users to easily define the input and output data’s characteristics, in just a few simple clicks. To add to that, the support for multiple input formats, such as DOC, DOCX, HTM, HTML, PDF, and RTF, enhances the overall versatility of the app.

However, the way in which the conversion process is to be initialized is far from obvious, and it took us a while to determine it. One will have to press “Enter” while having the selected files in the main view list, in order to confirm the conversion process.

To add to the aforementioned strange handling, the application’s potential weaknesses also extend to the additional tweaks and features department, which is quite lacking in both. While not the greatest of gripes, there might be those who could require additional settings.

For instance, having the ability to parametrize the batch processing process would be a nice addition to future iterations of Doc to Text.

While not having the most comprehensive approach toward digital document conversion, Doc to Text manages to provide a simple way of migrating such data to plain text format, but it does it in a kind of unusual way.
