ExcelMerge

When working with data stored in multiple spreadsheets, it is often necessary to compare them and analyze the differences. Performing this task without a specialized utility to help you out is going to be a very time-consuming process, which is why you may wish to rely on an application like ExcelMerge.

An open-source program that supports several spreadsheet formats, ExcelMerge enables you to open two documents side by side and compare them. Some more work is needed, however, as features such as the ability to merge documents have not yet been implemented.

This program allows you to work with XLS, XLSX, CSV and TSV files. You can open two documents in separate panels, and any differences between them will be shown after performing a quick analysis.

Once the files have been inspected, you can choose to display all the contained data and highlight differences, or just view entries that are not identical or are missing in one of the documents.

The user interface is not one of the application’s strong suits, as it features a very simplistic visual design. It is not too difficult to work with, however, and some basic customization options are available.

It is clear that ExcelMerge is still in the fairly early stages of development, as the application seems to lack polish, and not all the planned features have yet been implemented. In particular, it is worth noting that, despite what the program’s name suggests, you cannot merge Excel files.

ExcelMerge is a relatively simple application that can prove helpful for users who need to inspect multiple Excel files for differences. It is not particularly novice-friendly, however, and it lacks advanced features while also sporting a rudimentary UI.
