There are many different types of documents that can store text, but only some are commonly used. The application tries to make things easy, even for inexperienced individuals. In this attempt, the main window did not get fitted with any shiny visuals to distract or confuse you. A large table shows all files you add, along with related details, while trigger functions and other options can easily be accessed through a dedicated toolbar.

Needless to say that the only supported file type is PDF, and these can be added either by drag and drop, or through built-in dialogs for individual files, or content of an entire folder. There’s no preview to show content, but the application does offer the option to open them in your default viewer.

You might want to pay a visit to the options menu before putting the conversion in motion. For starters, it’s the place where you get to choose the output folder. Other than that, reading order can be kept in the default state, or converted to raw order. If you keep the destination the same as the source, you can have existing files overwritten, prompted for action, or renamed automatically.

Pressing the convert button makes you wait a few seconds until it’s done. The output folder isn’t automatically opened, and no option to do so directly. In case you consider something went wrong, the application can display a log of events, which you can also export to file for in-depth analysis.

To sum it up, JM-Pdf2Txt manages to live up to expectations, letting you extract text from PDF files in a few seconds. Sadly, there’s no option to save to a single file, but the overall simplicity of the process, reading order settings, and speed of conversion make it worth your while.
