LaTeX Equation Editor

LaTeX Equation Editor is an ultra-simplistic software application which gives you the possibility to write simple LaTeX equations and preview results in real time. It does not comprise complicated features or configuration parameters, making it accessible to all types of users.

LaTeX Equation Editor is not wrapped in an installer file. It means that you can save the app to a USB flash drive and directly launch it on any computer with minimum effort. More importantly, it does not modify Windows registry settings or create extra files on the disk, thus leaving no traces behind after its removal.

The GUI is plain-looking. It does not contain any visually appealing elements but it is easy to navigate. You can immediately start writing or pasting the LaTeX equation in the dedicated box to get results in real time, on the bottom of the window. Log details can be separately examined.

As far as app configuration is concerned, you can indicate the path to the MiKTeX texifty.exe and dvipng.exe files, which are necessary for LaTeX Equation Editor to fully work. You can specify the view update frequency, set the image DPI, as well as select the environment type.

We have not come across any stability issues in our tests, since the tool did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. It has a good response time and minimal impact on computer performance, thanks to the fact that it needs a low amount of CPU and RAM to function. On the other hand, LaTeX Equation Editor comes loaded with limited features. However, we must also take into account that it has not been updated for a while.
