Momentum Writer

With the wide variety of add-ons for the most popular word processors, it's hard not to test and install them. This distracts you from finishing your work on time and lose the train of thoughts.

There are quite a few apps out there that can offer you simple means to write your documents without any additional elements, to distract you. Momentum Writer is a plain and basic word editor, that comes lightweight, with several format options. The setup is fast and requires a few clicks, to complete.

It's wrapped in a self-explanatory and featureless interface, which displays a full-screen processor, and with a simple context menu, accessible by right-clicking on the panel. There isn't much to say about its options, as there are essentially non-existent.

It lets you open TXT and RTF documents and saves them to the same formats. A badly configured function is the backspace key, which is disabled by default, but can be enabled from the settings, making it possible to delete unwanted text. Content can be directly pasted into the panel, but you are unable to edit it. From the menu, you are able to pick a predefined theme, or change the current one, with other colors.

The font can be modified to the desired one, along with its size. The tool lets you adjust the page margins, by dragging the slider to the proper location. It also provides a list that shows the recently accessed documents, useful to re-open them with minimum effort. The word count is displayed at the bottom of the window, and can be hidden from the settings.

Taking everything into account, Momentum Writer is an average and elementary program that is suitable for those who type slower and are able to delete their mistakes easily. Its lack of features leaves much to be desired.
