Easily write using characters from various different languages through a dedicated virtual keyboard, and copy the text in your projects #Virtual keyboard #Multilanguage keyboard #On-screen keyboard #Keyboard #Multilingual #On-screen
Diversity isn’t just a natural occurrence, and even we differentiate ourselves through factors like culture. As a result, there are many different writing styles and characters. Trying to write with other characters than Latin can be a bit tricky, but this is where specialized applications like MultiLingual Soft Keyboards come in handy, providing a neat virtual keyboard with several language-specific characters.
The installation process takes only a little while and goes without any issues. However, to be able to install and even run the application, you need to make sure your computer is equipped with Adobe AIR.
On the visual side of things, the application is wrapped around a pleasant interface, with elements being differently colored for easy identification. A large text area is where all text goes, with the possibility to copy it when you’re done, but with no built-in option to export it directly, at least to a plain TXT file.
All supported languages are found and selected from a drop-down menu, and include Greek, Arabic, Chinese, German, Hebrew, Korean, Russian, and several more. Upon selection, the virtual keyboard changes all its characters accordingly.
However, input needs to be done using the provided keyboard itself, which has some impact on practicality and speed. Sure enough, the text input field also accepts keyboard input, but regardless of the selected language, doing so writes based on your default system language.
There’s also a high chance that some characters in specific language sets don’t properly appear, regardless of installed fonts on your computer. If there aren’t too many such occurrences, you can write text and hope the application you later import the text in supports those characters.
Little to no other options are put at your disposal. It would have been useful to see at least a way to make the keyboard bigger to help type faster on touch-enabled devices, which could have made up for the lack of proper keyboard association.
Bottom line is that MultiLingual Soft Keyboards doesn’t bring anything new on the block, and neither does it make a substantial effort to stand out from the crowd. Language support leaves a bit more to be desired, while the lack of association with your own keyboard makes it incredibly difficult and time-consuming to type long paragraphs.
