NoteItDown

NoteItDown is a lightweight software dedicated to users interested in taking notes and organizing them in separate directories. The app has a small size footprint, it's intuitive and user-friendly. Give it a couple of minutes of attention, and you'll be close to mastering it.

Due to its portable design, NoteItDown can be quickly and easily deployed on any machine, be it a laptop or desktop. Despite having a decade since it's been around, the dashboard integrates perfectly within the Windows 11 theme.

Creating or adding notes can be done from the sidebar's context menu. Right-click the "Notes" node to add a new note. Upon doing that, the text area unlocks. Use the keyboard to add your ideas to an entry or paste content from the clipboard, your choice. Assign names to your notes to easily differentiate them, or create folders to better organize them.

NoteItDown spots the classical editing features that most applications dealing with text do. You can change the font and its size, color words, or background and align text on pages. Wrap up words automatically to prepare a page for printing. Replace key work in a note with the neat Search and Replace function.

You can insert the date and time at the end of every note, helping with identification and indexing. For those who usually leave in a hurry and turn off their machine without saving their work, NoteItDown has the answer. Saving one's work when closing the application is a smart option found within the settings menu, and it's on by default — thoughtful enough.

NoteItDown is a simple tool that lets you note down your thoughts, ideas, or any other information you feel like storing away in a digital cabinet. IT might not the sharpest tool in the shed, but it works, and for some users, that is what matters the most.
