Programmers often have to deal with complex mathematical equations when working on various software projects.

NppCalc is a Notepad++ plugin you can use to easily calculate mathematical and expressions while handling this text editor.

It supports, basic, assignment, compare, separator, array, exponential, square root, logarithm, and other match functions. Other types of expressions include file operations (e.g. copy directory or file, find all files matching a mask) and unit conversions (e.g. distance, volume, area).

It's an easy task to set up this extension, since all you have to do is extract the files from the downloaded archive and copy them to the "plugins" folder of the text editor. This works whether you have the installer or portable edition of Notepad++ available.

In the following step, make sure to restart Notepad++ if it was already running before making this happen. The evaluation calculator can be activated from the "Plugins" menu or by pressing Ctrl+Shift+C.

While NppCalc is active, you can type or paste math equations, then press Enter to get results. You can also highlight text to make calculations.

It's possible to perform additions, subtractions, multiplications, divisions, power and concatenation, along with assignment and number comparisons.

You can select by condition, add text to the output buffer, use golden ratio and speed of sound, increment values, and calculate percent, module, square root, absolute values as well as natural, decimal and binary logarithms.

There are a wide range of scientific operators and functions available, which can be studied in help documentation included in the downloaded package.

The only issue we've noticed is that word wrapping mode gets deactivated automatically when disabling NppCalc.
