Ray

Ray is a straightforward and widely-approachable HTML-powered text editor that's mostly aimed at creating, managing, and organizing personal notes.

Granted, there aren't that many HTML-based note apps out there, however, by using the HTML format, Ray doesn't only ensure a greater range of text customization options, but it also makes it fairly easy for you to export the files to other HTML-savvy apps, as well.

The application boasts a novice-accessible GUI with multi-tab support. As far as file organizing capabilities are concerned, Ray uses "Projects" as the primary structural element (toggle the Project Explorer/View from the upper left corner by clicking the menu button).

With the basics out of the way, we should mention some other, secondary features that make Ray worth your while. We'll start off with the drag and drop support which makes it very simple for you to manage folders and files inside your projects and the basic text styling capabilities. You can insert images, hyperlinks, and even video links.

Ray also supports an extensive set of shortcuts aimed at improving your productivity (click the "?" to access the full list) and various GUI customization features such as the possibility of modifying the base font size, as well as the font and background colors.

Of course, Ray is still a rather young project, so don't be surprised if a few bugs make their presence known, even though, we haven't encountered any in our tests. More importantly, we should be able to see a few improvements in the following period as well (more styling options, multilingual UI, auto-save options, and others).

To conclude, if you're looking for a simple app to create and organize HTML files, without requiring the super advanced capabilities provided by a full-featured editor, then you should definitely give Ray a run-through.
