SECCOMP - The Secure Spreadsheet

More often than not, when creating a worksheet in Excel, you need to employ some formulas that you prefer other to change, edit, delete or view. While in the case of the first three, you can avert all potential problems by locking the cells, with the later it is usually more complicated.

SECCOMP - The Secure Spreadsheet is an extension for Microsoft Excel that enables you to secure datasets from other users that you cannot trust completely, but without affecting the efficiency in making the required calculations in any way.

The add-in is designed based on the principle of secure computation, which is a field of cryptography that has the role of creating alternatives to perform searches or computer encrypted data. While still in its infancy, secure computation is used in various areas that commonly deal with data deemed as confidential, private or secret, such as secure auctions, credit scoring, special benchmarking or satellite collision detection with private orbits, just to name a few.

The utility employs various computation techniques, such as ORAMs, garbled circuits or oblivious transfer. The difference, however, is that it can create methods of computation for all users who need to access and jointly computer a function over the inputs of others while still being able to keep the said data private.
