SaySo

SaySo is an app that reads every word you write on any document. It makes it easy for students or visually impaired people to have their texts double-checked via audio playback.

This program is built with accessibility in mind. All the relevant icons are big and easy to discern so everybody knows where each button is placed. Besides the main control panel, which holds all the playback and text checking buttons, SaySo also comes with a secondary mini-app, called ‘Dolphin EasyBookshelf,’ that acts as a document library. The voice reader is able to play back every word in the documents uploaded in the playlist.

Radios, RSS feeds, and websites can be loaded by the app so you can enjoy the voice playback offered by the utility.

The main purpose of this app is to serve users that need a voice playback for all the text documents a modern day consumer needs, be they websites, Word documents, PDF files, and pretty much any other standard text formats.

SaySo reads aloud all text messages you write in other applications and, in case users need a larger online database of books, the tool offers a couple of online sources from where people interested can buy books compatible with the program.

In case you have only physical books that need reading, all you need is a working scanner to get them recognized by the application. SaySo recognizes the new material and starts reading it to you the moment you upload data in the app. Data downloaded or scanned can be later saved to a DAISY book format or MP3 file in case you need to hear it via your earphones while you go to work.

There are more advanced options in the 'Settings' panel as well. From there users can select the playback voice and the country of its origin. Check spelling can also be enabled from the settings segment, together with the toolbar layout.

SaySo is an excellent application for visually impaired people. It can read texts with voices native to five different countries, and can play back in real time text that is being written in any available document. It provides a large library of online books and can read websites as well. Overall, SaySo does its job above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to serving persons in need.
