History is nothing more than a close record of events based on more or less accurate data. History is written as we speak, and it’s all because of the concept of time that this info is structured. In case you want to mark important events yourself, then Timelines helps you build a neat timeline and save as picture.

One particular advantage here is portability, offering the chance to carry the events editor with you and add new ones on the spot, regardless of the computer you’re using. However, for this to be possible, the target computer needs to be fitted with .NET Framework. Note that registry entries are not modified during runtime, so the health status of the target PC remains intact.

All tools you need to build the timeline are found in a classic window frame. However, the overall design is pretty intuitive, letting you keep more projects active at a time, and most of the space is the actual timeline with which you can interact. There’s also a sample timeline to help get a better idea of how your projects look like.

A side panel holds all projects you work on. These are mere containers, and adding a new one requires a simple name, which can later on be modified. Adding items is done on the actual timeline, with a double-click operation bringing up the creation box.

Details required for an item to show up on the timeline count as title and description, as well as the exact date. When different years are added, the application adds a ruler on the bottom. You’re free to adjust the view size of the timeline, and this is exactly the region you get when choosing to save as picture.

Bottom line is that Timelines isn’t really meant for professional operations, but it doesn’t mean it can’t be used in this regard. The design is pretty clever, with a timeline automatically created based on details you provide. Multiple projects can be created, and even saved as pictures from a custom view.
