eAlign

eAlign is an intuitive and reliable application designed to automatically align translations, sentence by sentence, or paragraph by paragraph.

The program provides a clean and straightforward layout, divided into three panels. The first and second display the source and target files, along with their location. The third one contains all the main options you need to set for your files.

It can align parallel text bodies as well as output TMX, CSV, and tab-delimited files. The tool aligns the documents' content and supports batch processing. With just a click, you can revert the changes if the output results are not satisfactory.

In order to add files to the lists, you can either browse their folder or use the drag and drop option to put them into the correct location. When you're done inserting each one in the source and target tables, you have to make sure that the two match.

That means that the actual alignment is done to the files next to each other. For example, the first file in the source list is matched with the first one in the target list. Batch processing can be prevented by removing unnecessary items.

If you double click on any of the files in the list, it opens with the associated program. By doing so, you can check the content of your files, as long as you make sure to save them before proceeding.

The next step is to extract them to text documents. This process takes a few seconds to finish and is accompanied by a progress bar that shows which files are being manipulated by the program. eAlign adds a descriptive name in square brackets to the file name so that you know what's going on. The color of the indicator is based on the status of the process.

The original files are backed up to a specific folder and overwritten with the new ones, which are also converted with the UTF-8 encoding mode. You can verify the progress by using the side-by-side option, the files being opened with Notepad++ if you have it installed. Plus, you can change the language for both source and target lists, and you can export data to TMX, CSV, word tables or tab-delimited files once finished.
