CoverUP

In the absence of a full-featured PDF editor, concealing sensitive information inside a document might be a challenge. CoverUP makes it possible to hide sections of a PDF document to eliminate details that are either not relevant or confidential.

The application is easily installed and ready to use in minutes. You start by loading any PDF file on your computer and CoverUP instantly converts it into an image file. If you are wondering why, the reason is related to data security as well.

The text cannot be copied from an image to the clipboard or manipulated without OCR technology, thus making sure that the details you are about to conceal are secure. It is worth noting that invisible layers in the loaded PDF file are not converted.

Since it works with images rather than PDF files, CoverUP can also import PNG and JPG files.

To cover up sensitive details in the document, simply use drag and drop to draw rectangles or bars and cover them all. The color of the bars can be either black or white and there is no option to customize this further, but that should not be an issue.

There is an undo button that allows you to revert changes to the document and also an eraser that you can use to delete drawings you made to the document. Page navigation and zoom level control are also available.

The resulting document can either be saved as a regular image but note that its size can be quite large. Alternatively, there is a compression option that saves storage space while compromising on quality. On the downside, it canot save the result as a PDF document.

Created in Python, CoverUP brings to the table a simple option to edit PDF documents but is far from being a traditional editor. Instead, it allows you to conceal information inside the document and save the output as a picture.
