PDF Split Merge

PDF Split Merge is a PDF joiner and splitter that offers three document cutting methods wrapped up in a user-friendly interface. It contains approachable options for all user levels and doesn't require Adobe Reader.

The setup procedure is fast and the only notable aspect is that you need .NET Framework installed. The application adopts a classical window split into three panes, dedicated to PDF splitting, merging, and options.

When it comes to configuration settings, you can indicate two output directories for creating the new PDF docs after merging and splitting, and ask the tool to open the new files on task completion. The PDFs can be cut into single pages, by every given number of pages, or by indicating the exact pages or page range for extraction. There are no special settings reserved for PDF cuts.

You can use a built-in file explorer to locate files to add to the merge or split task, remove any item from the list or clear the entire queue to start the project from scratch, change the files' order in the list, as well as save the file list as a plain text document and import it later to resume the project.

The application gets minimized to the system tray but this option can be disabled. Moreover, it can hide when minimized.

We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the software utility didn't freeze, crash or prompt error messages. It left a small footprint on system performance, as it required low CPU and RAM to work properly.

On the other hand, the price of the full package seems too much when taking into account PDF Split Merge's light set of options dedicated to PDF joining and cutting. Nevertheless, you can test it for yourself.
