Printing doesn’t necessarily have to be done with a connected printer. For instance, Windows allows you to print anything under a specific file, namely the XPS. However, it’s rather difficult to process files under these formats, and XPS-to-PDF comes with a solution to help you extract different resources, and export to other popular formats.
It takes a little time, and effort to get the application installed on your computer. However, it completely relies on .NET Framework to function, so you need to make sure it is installed on the target PC, even though modern Windows iterations come with it as a default feature.
Accommodation only takes a little while, especially because of the popular ribbon menu used to hold most of the functions. However, adding, and processing different files can also be done through the dedicated context menu. Multiple files can be processed at a time, with the possibility to either drag them over the main window, or use the built-in browse dialog to load multiple items, or an entire folder for its content.
All files are shown by their path in the main window, while possible operations revealed in the ribbon menu. Extraction options make it possible to generate PDF documents, TXT files, or different types of pictures, such as JPG, BMP, PNG, and TIFF, with selectable quality options, depending on the chosen output type.
You don’t necessarily have to process the entire document, with several dedicated options to specify either a range of pages, or directly write down the pages you want to convert. Unfortunately, you can’t bundle all extracted elements in a single file. On the other hand, path options make it possible to keep the directory structure intact, overwrite existing files, or save files in the same directory as the source.
All things considered, we come to the conclusion that XPS-to-PDF is a practical application you can use to extract content from XPS files and save them under quite the variety of picture, or text files. The intuitive design makes it easy for individuals of all levels of experience to quickly get the hang of things, while batch processing, and output options make it worth at least a try.
