Clean Editor

Clean Editor is a lightweight utility designed to provide a distraction free tool for anyone who needs to make adjustments to text files. In addition to plain text files, the utility also supports other file formats, namely HTML, XML, MD and DOCX.

The setup is a quick and uneventful process that does not need any special attention on your part. The program comes with a modern interface and you can easily toggle between the dark and light themes from the dedicated button located in the upper right section.

The GUI consists of a working area where you can paste or write your content and includes various editing tools right on top, for easy access. The tool is designed for convenience and is currently using shortcuts that you are familiar with, such as Ctrl + S for save or Ctrl + Z for Undo, for instance.

In addition to the editing features, the application allows you to insert images, from both your local drive as well as external sources. For the latter, you need to specify the place holder and insert the URL. The same options are available for inserting quotes and you can even add a table, if it is relevant to your content.

Other noteworthy features of the tool include inserting lists, increasing and decreasing indent, managing the list of styles and adding headers to your content. As previously mentioned, the actions can be performed via clicking the buttons or via shortcuts.

While the tool cannot be considered an editor for developers, it does include numerous features that can come in handy for the average user. Clean Editor can be considered a viable alternative to Notepad.
