The built-in Notepad may leave some users wanting more. It's a tool of the most basic kind, but if all you want is to note some stuff down, it should do the job just fine. Anything more than that, and you're better off looking for alternatives.

Highlight a word, and you'll be able to look it up on various dictionaries and translators across the web. Doing so will open a browser page to the respective domain.

Hotkeys can also make life easier once you've gotten the hang of them. You can quickly bold, italicize, and underline text, manage indentations and font sizes, and so on.

Overall, Jovial NoteTab makes for a solid alternative to the built-in Notepad. It provides some nice quality-of-life features, and it's also portable, which means that you can start using it immediately after downloading.
