Markdown Editor and Shell Extensions

If you are using Markdown files regularly, then chances are that you may find the idea of working in a more integrated environment more convenient and efficient. Markdown Editor and Shell Extensions is a lightweight application that can provide this accommodation, and is essentially a toolset that enhances the experience of managing MD files overall.

The interface is modern and neatly-organized, with the quick access functions positioned on the left side for easy access. From this lateral menu, you can easily open, copy, paste, search or save as HTML or PDF, among other things. The interface itself is split into two panels, one being for the file that you are working on, whereas the right one allowing you to preview changes in real-time.

There is also a menu located in the upper section that includes the typical formatting functions along with other commands, such as inserting an image or a link, for example. Since it has both the editor and the preview, you no longer need to rely on other third-party tools to check and disrupt your workflow.

A noteworthy feature of the program is the integration of a preview handler directly into File Explorer. This can come in handy when you are managing a lot of data and need to make a quick decision about which file to open. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to view or test this feature on Windows 11 and, based on what the developer posted, it may work on Windows 10 only for now.
