Just because a text editor isn’t fitted with tons of visual, and style customization options doesn’t mean it’s obsolete, or useless. Take, for instance, Notepad, which is at the core of multiple activities, including writing source code. As such, you can use Multipad to work on more text documents at a time.
At its core, the application is nothing more than a multiple document interface for the Windows default text editor, Notepad. It takes little time and effort to get it up and running, while accommodation is a walk in the park, since you’re surely already familiar with Notepad’s set of features.
You start off with one document, but you’re free to open more, without losing any changes made to the previous document. Disappointment might soon struck when you realize multiple documents are not shown in the form of tabs, but rather different windows held together by the main one. Arrangement options allow you to quickly tile, cascade, or freely move them around the workspace.
Luckily, the application brings a few more features than what you’re used to from using Notepad. One of them is file support, and although you can’t load and save more than TXT, or RTF, exporting also benefits from the possibility to build a PDF document. However, it needs to be limited to text, because there’s no option to insert pictures.
Other features are meant to enhance overall flexibility when working on your projects, such as the find and replace tool, with parameters to match whole word, or character casing. Word wrapping, and alignment options allow you to slightly customize the visual design of content even further.
Taking everything into consideration, we can safely state that Multipad manages to live up to expectations, greatly helping you out if Notepad is your text editor of choice. Although it would have been better to see tab support rather than windows for more documents, it deserves a try overall, especially because of export options, which include PDF.
