My Notepad

My Notepad is a basic text editor for programmers, which features support not only for plain text documents, but also for C, C++, C#, Java and HTML files.

Apart from the core files, the package contains a few fonts and syntax highlighting support for C, C++, C#, HTML and Java. Any of these components can be excluded from setup. It doesn't take long but requires .NET Framework.

As far as the interface is concerned, My Notepad adopts a standard window with an unpolished look and neatly organized structure, where you can open or create new .txt, .c, .cpp, .cs, .java or .html files. Multiple tabs are supported, so you can work with multiple docs at the same time and easily toggle them .

Basic text editing options are available, such as copying, cutting, pasting, deleting and selecting all text. You can resort to a basic search-and-replace function, zoom in and out of the document, show or hide line numbers on the left margin, as well as save all files and close all tabs except for the current one.

Undoing and redoing your actions is possible too, along with content printing and configurable print settings. Keyboard shortcuts are supported for all commands.

It used a low amount of CPU and RAM in our evaluation, so it didn't hog system resources. However, it displayed an error dialog on startup on 64-bit Windows, preventing us from using it.

We must keep in mind that My Notepad hasn't received updates for a long time. The interface makes it look like an unfinished project that remained in beta development, and there are no advanced settings available for a code editor. Nevertheless, you can test it for yourself.
