Notepad Enhanced

Notepad Enhanced is a simple word processor that features extra options compared to Windows' default Notepad. It is intuitive enough to be figured by all types of users, even those with little or no experience in software apps.

The installer does not take a long time to finish. Those who want to skip it and run the app directly from a pen drive may resort to Portable Notepad Enhanced.

The interface is user-friendly, based on a familiar window with a clear-cut structure. Multiple tabs are supported, so you can work on multiple docs at the same time.

It is possible to close all tabs but the current one, as well as to download the source code of a webpage.

A search and replace function is available. You can jump to a particular line, insert the current time/date and signature, as well as change the text structure using a regex profile (e.g. insert bullets, remove numbered lists, ignore case, reduce to double newlines).

You can display line numbers, disable word wrapping and enable smart tabbing, switch to full screen mode, make the frame stay on top of other windows, switch to reading mode, and view document information (e.g. total words, characters and sentenced).

It is possible to customize the signature, disable multiple instances, set the app to prompt the user to restore data, enable automatic word selection, enable multi-line tabs, set the vertical and horizontal padding along with the text width in pixels, choose the style and number color, and so on.

The tool has minimal impact on computer performance, since it runs on low CPU and RAM. There were no kind of issues throughout our evaluation, as Notepad Enhanced did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. Thanks to its pleasant interface and handy options, the app makes for a pretty decent word processor.
