When launched, the main window shows up and immediately lets you accommodate, mostly because it looks similar to Notepad. Apart from the upper toolbar, all of the space is taken up by the canvas on which you get to write. What makes it a bit different from Notepad is the colored background and font used.

The application can work with plain text files and RTF for both import and export. Little to no information is shown about the document and amount of text you write, with the only thing the status bar displaying being current line and total number of characters.

On the other hand, Paddy doesn’t actually want to be just a replacement for default Windows features, coming with a bit more options. The upper toolbar is fitted with various options that make it possible to decode text encrypted with various algorithms, and even insert elements like date, emails, breaks, and align XML text.

The application supports rich text, which means you’re able to choose from the installed fonts to change style, and even color. Specific text lines can be set as favorites, with a dedicated option that lets you quickly insert it in other projects, even with hotkeys.

Bottom line is that text is behind many activities, including programming all video games, programs, and web pages you frequently use. Different utilities can come in handy, with Paddy proving that an application doesn’t need to be equipped with an overwhelming diversity of features to be practical, but rather those that help the most.
