When it comes to text editing, there are consecrated names out there. Take Microsoft 365, for instance, that packs advanced grammar and style refinements like clarity, conciseness, formality, vocabulary suggestions, and has even introduced some AI elements.

However, there are instances where a simpler approach is preferred, especially for quick editing tasks or to avoid distractions. This is where PrismBlue comes into play, offering a valuable solution for those who prioritize simplicity and efficiency in their text editing workflows.

You don’t need to meet any special requirements, and you can just decompress the archive to get started. The interface is minimalistic at first glance, but as I discovered that it includes several useful features as I was browsing through the menu.

The editing options are standard, and I can copy, paste, cut and search within the document easily. The app also allowed me to redo, undo and restore portions of my document.

A nice surprise was in the View menu, as it allows me to switch between white and dark themes and remove the Toggle Status bar from the bottom of the GUI. Moreover, I can select a new font size and style, although the latter includes just a bunch of options.

Run is another menu worth mentioning, as it allows you to actually run code you wrote in Python, Node.js, Java, or Ruby. The app allows you to preview HTML and Markdown files directly, without you having to switch to a dedicated editor. While not much, it can help streamline your workflow when you are reviewing some of your code.

Lastly, it is worth mentioning that PrismBlue creates automatic backups as you make changes and hence provides a safety net in case of accidental closure or loss of unsaved work.
