YEditor

YEditor is a small-sized software application that puts a simple interface at your disposal for opening plain and rich text documents to edit their contents and save modifications.

It doesn't include advanced options or configuration settings, making it ideal for users looking for a straightforward text editor without any hassle.

The whole package is wrapped in a single executable file that can be saved to a preferred directory on the disk or stored on a removable storage device to easily run YEditor on any PC.

It doesn't add new entries to your system registry or create files on the disk without asking for permission. However, it requires you have .NET Framework installed, since it was developed with the aid of this platform.

As far as the GUI is concerned, the utility adopts a standard .NET Framework that doesn't put emphasis on graphical elements, yet it's easy to use.

You can use the file browser to open a .txt or .rtf document, view and edit text, copy and paste selected text, as well as save all changes by either overwriting the original text or creating a new one with the .rtf or .txt format.

This also means that the program also works as a converter between these two filetypes. Keyboard shortcuts are supported for all commands. Since it's not designed to remember your text on exit, make sure to save save it beforehand. It doesn't request confirmation to quit.

It worked smoothly in our evaluation, without triggering the OS to hang, crash or indicate errors. CPU and RAM usage was minimal, so it didn't hog system resources. On the other hand, it has a rudimentary-looking GUI and few options. You can test YEditor for yourself, since it's freeware.
