Highly productive PC users who work with text-based applications typically have to resort to copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+P) functions to speed up tasks.

Installing a clipboard manager is extremely helpful for keeping track of all copied text, since the Windows Clipboard acts only as a temporary storage that automatically replaces the old clip when copying a new one.

If you're a Notepad++ user interested in a clipboard history tool, you can resort to MultiClipboard instead of installing another application.

This is an add-on that can be seamlessly blended with Notepad++, thanks to the fact that it's open source and supports plugins.

To install MultiClipboard, you just have to extract the DLL file from the downloaded archive and copy it to the "plugins" directory of Notepad++. This works whether you have the installer or portable edition of the text editor.

The MultiClipboard viewer can be displayed in a small panel embedded on the left side of the main window by pressing Ctrl+Alt+V. It starts capturing everything you copy and can paste clips with Ctrl+Shift+V.

By default, this action is confined to Notepad++ only. This means that if you copy text outside of the text editor, it will not be recorded by the plugin.

It's possible to move the clip entries up and down in the list, copy them to the Windows Clipboard to be able to paste them outside of Notepad++, and remove any item from this storage space.

The clipboard manager comes with a bunch of configuration settings to tinker with. For example, you can specify the maximum number of clip texts to store, allow it to copy text from other programs, automatically copy selected text, and use the middle mouse click for pasting.

All things considered, MultiClipboard proves to be a reliable assistant for monitoring and reusing text clips while working in Notepad++. It has a practical set of options and can be easily used.
