Free EPUB Reader is a lightweight, yet efficient program that serves to deliver a very simple method of reading e-books in EPUB format.

Despite the fact that there are several tools on the market (both online and desktop), able to achieve the same purpose, Free EPUB Reader comes across as a more user-oriented software.

Ease of use its main strength, targeting users with minimum computer know-how. It relies on a very fast installation process that ends up creating a shortcut on your desktop, from where you can initiate the program.

In terms of appearance, the application is not impressive, but remains intuitive throughout your experience with it. Part of its simplicity is due to the modest feature set, we might add.

Loading an EPUB file can be done only using the dedicated button, because drag and drop is not supported. Large e-books or files containing a lot of images will take longer to process, as a side note.

The Chapters will be listed in a sidebar which makes itself available in the left part of the main window. Also, navigating between chapters is possible using the built-in arrows inside the program, or with the aid of the mouse, which is a more efficient method.

Moreover, you can use the zoom in and zoom out functions to increase or decrease the font of the content. Reverting to the built-in ratio of the e-book can be done using a dedicated command (also located in the zoom bar).

Bottom line, Free EPUB Reader is in need of a few improvements. It could use a more appealing interface, as well as options to export the content to another format (which we have seen in other viewers).
